Testimonials
"Our 13-year old trumpet-playing son was invigorated and
inspired by Roxy's improv workshop.  He came home each afternoon
with fresh ideas and a new-found confidence to experiment and
stretch himself beyond the written notes.  Roxy relates well to
kids, and remembers what it's like to stand up and create your
own sound for the first time.  Our son would have gladly taken
lessons with her all summer if she'd been available, and he
looks forward to working with her again next year."      -Cathy
Davis

“Roxy gave us exercises that got harder as we progressed...I
never realized how much there is to learn about jazz and how to
develop solos and improvise.  It was a great experience." -Will
H.

"Roxy, Thank you so much for creating a beginning improv jazz
class for my 12 year old son and his friends.  Most of them had
2 or 3 years of instrumental music experience but no experience
with jazz.  After the first session, they had the method and
inspiration to work on their own: they were improvising,
teaching and encouraging each other outside of class!  Your
method of teaching jazz made it fun and easily accessible to the
kids.  It was just the inspiration that [my son] needed to be
motivated to continue with music and put effort into
practicing."   -Marta Hunt

As a professional musician, Roxy understands the importance of
music education. She has had several mentors in her career that
have provided her with the necessary tools to succeed, and
inspired her to do the same for newer musicians. Having the
opportunity to work with so many different students has shown
her how truly rewarding it can be to inspire students, and show
them a new way of understanding concepts.

Roxy's approach to teaching is unique. She has the ability to
teach different students with different techniques to
accommodate all.
