The Roxy Coss Quintet is a New York City-based modern jazz ensemble led by Musician, Composer, Bandleader, Educator and Activist Roxy Coss. Coss has become one of the most unique and innovative Saxophonists on the scene. Winner of a 2016 ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, the Downbeat Magazine Critics’ Poll listed her as a "Rising Star" on Soprano Saxophone the past six years in a row, Downbeat called her "An exceptional young talent”, and Jazziz Magazine listed her an “Artist to Watch in 2019”. Originally from Seattle, she has been a fixture on the New York scene for a dozen years.

The Roxy Coss Quintet performs Coss’ original compositions and arrangements, featuring five of today’s top rising musicians from New York, including Alex Wintz on guitar, Miki Yamanaka on piano and keyboards, Rick Rosato on bass and Jimmy Macbride on drums. The Roxy Coss Quintet has headlined at many major venues and festivals, including the Newport Jazz Festival, NYC Winter JazzFest, Earshot and Ballard Jazz Festivals, the Appel Room for the 2016 ASCAP Foundation Awards, the Jazz Standard, Jazz Showcase, and the Midwest Clinic “Music & Arts” Reception.

The quintet was selected as the first-ever recipient of the Emerging Artist Project, a four-year grant from the Local 802 Musicians Union, AFM of Greater New York. The quintet was also chosen as a finalist in the 2018 D.C. Jazz Prix, and has held residencies at SMOKE Jazz Club, Club Bonafide, and 181 Cabrini in NYC. Started in 2008, the Quintet evolved into its current lineup on their recent album, The Future is Female (Posi-Tone) 2018, which received 4.5-Star reviews from Downbeat and All About Jazz. Past albums also include Chasing the Unicorn (Posi-Tone) 2017, Restless Idealism (Origin) 2015, and Roxy Coss (Self-Released) 2010.
